Why do spiders take such pains to weave webs?
The little spider that works so busily fashioning it's delicate, silken web is not merely wasting it's time, but is performing a very useful task. There are different reasons why the spider should be busy in this way. There are cocoons to be spun in which their eggs can be kept safe, and the young spiders warm. Other spiders are busy weaving insect traps to lure small flies and other titbits, which would be good to eat. Most spiders have different patterns of their own to weave into their dainty nets, and the results are often so beautiful that lace-maker of different countries have tried to copy them.
