Strider VR has a new omni-directional treadmill. The device combines full-body tracking and unrestricted walking for VR users, resulting in a "near perfect illusion of walking in a virtual world." Strider uses a rotating ball array on top of a traditional treadmill with a Microsoft Kinect 2 sensor, and users can walk (but not run) on the device. Other treadmills on the market allow the user to rotate 360 degrees, but the Strider keeps the user oriented forward toward the sensor. The Strider development kit for the system is available from the German company Pathbender. — ROADTOVR |
