It is called Victoria regia and is a native of the Amazon Valley .The leaves which are bright green on the upper surface and vivid crimson underneath, are sometimes seven feet in diameter .Their edge are turned up, forming vertical rims of about six inches high.The flowers vary in colour from white to rose-pink and measure about a foot across.
