How can tiny squirrel plant giant forests?

It is strange that such a small creature as the squirrel is responsible for many of our woods. Yet naturalists tell us that this is true.

The squirrel ,preparing for its winter sleep, gather a supply of acorns,beech nuts,chest-nuts and others,and stores them away in some safe spots.Often ,however these winter provisions are never touched . Perhaps the squirrel sleeps so soundly that he never awakes and feel hungry,or sometimes when he does waken he forgets where his hidden larder was placed.So when spring arrivers , these uneaten nut grow into young trees and help to make up our forests.
